Denton J. Tipton (born 22 February 1976; age 48) is an editor at IDW Publishing. He was hired early March 2008 to assist Chris Ryall with their Transformers and Star Trek titles. He joined IDW after spending several years as a journalist, most recently as an editor at the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Prior to his work with the Union-Tribune, he worked as a comic book retailer and writer. His first editorial credit for IDW's Star Trek comics was on Star Trek: The Next Generation - Intelligence Gathering #4: "Matters of the Mind". Interestingly, the authors of that issue, Scott and David Tipton are not related to him, despite sharing his last name.
