Denkir was a star in the Alpha Quadrant. Two paintings, displayed in rooms on the USS Enterprise-D, depicted the planets Denkir II and Denkir IV as seen from the perspective of their moons.
In 2367, this star appeared on a chart in Captain Benjamin Maxwell's ready room on the USS Phoenix. (TNG: "The Wounded"; display graphic)
In an alternate 2366, Denkir was marked on a tactical situation monitor showing the fleet deployments in the Federation-Klingon War. (TNG: "Yesterday's Enterprise" display graphic)
Denkir was listed twice in the tactical display, showing its location between Eminiar and Rigel. This area of space was identified in "The Explored Galaxy" star chart as being between the Tholian Assembly and Romulus which were both identified in DS9: "The Search, Part II" and "Call to Arms" as being located in the Alpha Quadrant.
According to Rick Sternbach, Denkir was a star system he originally came up with for a non-Trek related SF story. Two of his paintings were incorporated for the walls of the Enterprise by the set decorator during the first season. [1]
