David Soul (born 28 August 1943; age 80), born David Richard Solberg, played Makora in the original series episode "The Apple". He is perhaps best known, however, for playing Detective Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson in the television series Starsky and Hutch. He also had a cameo in the film version of Starsky & Hutch, which co-starred Rachael Harris and Fred Williamson, and was produced by Akiva Goldsman in 2004.

After his appearance on Star Trek, he starred as the middle Bolt brother, Joshua, in the TV series Here Come the Brides along with other TOS guest stars Robert Brown, as Bolt's older brother Jason, and Mark Lenard. (Bolt would in fact appear in in the 1985 novel Ishmael, a crossover story in which Lenard's character is revealed to be an ancestor of Amanda Grayson, and therefore Spock as well.) He also played Rick Blaine in a short-lived TV series adaptation of Casablanca. Two of the five episodes made were directed by Ralph Senensky. In addition, he recorded a #1 single called Don't Give Up On Us.

He was formerly married to Julia Nickson who guest-starred in both TNG and DS9.
