David R. Morton is a visual effects artist specializing in matte paintings digital models for Foundation Imaging and Eden FX.

He began his long relationship with Star Trek by working as digital artist, digital effects supervisor, and CGI supervisor on a number of episodes of Star Trek: Voyager. This led to him working as a digital matte painter for the 2001 DVD release of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. He went on to work on Star Trek: Enterprise after that.

He was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series for his work on "Workforce", then won in the same category for his work on the pilot episode of Enterprise, "Broken Bow". A third nomination in the category followed in 2003 for "The Crossing". While working on Enterprise, Morton was the creator of the original model for the Xindi-Aquatic species.

In addition to his Trek work, he worked as a digital artist on J.J. Abrams' Alias and Lost series, Joss Whedon's Firefly series and Serenity movie, and, most recently, Ronald D. Moore's Caprica.
