Daniel Davis played the role of the holographic Professor James Moriarty in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes "Elementary, Dear Data" and "Ship in a Bottle".
Davis had recurring roles in both Dynasty and The Practice, but he is best known for playing Niles, the butler, on the television series The Nanny. He has also had a successful stage career, having been nominated for a Tony Award in 2000 for his performance in Wrong Mountain. As of this writing, he can be seen as Georges in the Broadway revival of La Cage Aux Folles.
Interestingly, he once also played the captain of the Enterprise… the USS Enterprise, in the 1990 film The Hunt for Red October.
