Damage control refers to the act of repairing damage that occurs onboard a ship, especially damage occuring as a result of combat or other emergency circumstance.

The task of damage control was the responsibility of damage control teams under the direction of the ship's Engineering staff. 23rd century Federation starships often had a specific bridge station dedicated to co-ordinating damage control efforts.

Production notes and other background materials tell us about the designated damage control station on the bridge's of the Constitution class starship pre- and post-refit. Admiral Kirk , and Spock consult the Enterprise's damage control station readouts following Khan's sneak attack in 2285. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)
