The D'Kyr-type support craft was a relatively large mid-22nd century auxiliary space vessel carried aboard Vulcan D'Kyr-type starships. The support craft was docked inside the engine hoop of its mother ship.
Designer John Eaves regarded the support craft as a kind of rescue vessel similar to a DSRV used by the US Navy. [1]
It is known as the Tal'Kyr Support Craft in Star Trek Online.
