Aboard Enterprise NX-01, in 2152, after her first time using the transporter, Ensign Hoshi Sato began to feel strange. Later, in the mess hall, she was ridiculed by Tucker, Reed, and Mayweather for never having heard the story of Cyrus Ramsey. It was Tucker who related the details of Cyrus' story:

The three of them explained that Ramsey's disappearance became legend and he was the subject of many ghost stories in which he would re-materialize in front of someone. Even Dr. Phlox, who had only been stationed on Earth for nine months, was aware of Cyrus Ramsey.
