Cryptic Studios is an American developer of online role-playing games, founded in 2000. They were the primary development company for Star Trek Online. [1]

Prior to their work on Star Trek Online, they had developed the City of Heroes, City of Villains, and Champions Online games.

Up until the end of May 2011, they were owned by Atari (and thus Infogrames), but were sold to Perfect World, a company based out of China. [2]
