A crew evaluation is a process undertaken aboard a ship or service organization to critique and reward the skills and abilities of a crew. They determine if a crew member should be promoted and/or transferred to a more suitable job. Most crew evaluations are formalized in a crew evaluation report.

On Federation starships, crew evaluations are the purview of the senior command staff, usually the executive officer. Medical and psychiatric staff members, such as the chief medical officer or ship's counselor usually participate also.

Once every three months, the command staff aboard the Enterprise-D performed these evaluations. (TNG: "Man of the People", "Lower Decks")

Chief engineer Geordi La Forge regularly attended similar personnel reviews. (TNG: "Galaxy's Child")
