In 2365, Genovese held the rank of captain, and was the commanding officer of the USS Endeavour. He had replaced the starship's former commander, Captain Maria Mann. (TNG: "The Measure Of A Man")

He was also listed as a Fleet Ops officer on the dedication plaque of several starships:
