The Coridan system was an inhabited planetary system. A planet in this system, Coridan, was the homeworld for the Coridans, a warp capable humanoid species. Other planets in this system were colonized by this species prior to 2151. In 2267, the Coridan planets were admitted to the United Federation of Planets. In 2373, Kandra Vilk moved from Deep Space 9 to a neutral planet near the Coridan system because of the impending war with the Dominion. (DS9: "In the Cards")

The Coridan system was a target of Jem'Hadar raids during the Dominion War due to its importance as a source of dilithium, even though it was not on the front lines. (DS9: "One Little Ship")
