Chip Carter is an American author and former Paramount Pictures staff member.

While at Paramount Pictures, he was in charge of approving comic book scripts. He worked on a number of issues in the Marvel Comics run between 1995 and 2000, being credited as an editorial assistant, but often taking credit in unusual ways, including as a "tribble" and "better looking than the Caretaker."

He also worked on editorial approval for the Last Unicorn Games RPG publications before Paul Ruditis took over from him.

In 2011, his Obsessed with Star Trek was published and in 2017 he authored Star Trek: The Book of Lists.

Carter authored the reference books included with the Star Trek: Light-and-Sound Borg Cube, the Star Trek: Light-and-Sound Communicator, and the Star Trek: Light-Up Shuttlecraft.
