Charlie Nichols was the helmsman aboard the ECS Horizon in the 2150s. He was notorious for his less-than-graceful warp jumps, which were graciously described as "a little rough."

When Travis Mayweather visited the Horizon, he immediately recognized that Nichols was at the helm after experiencing a rather rough warp jump. Nichols agreed with Travis that the Horizon's systems should be upgraded in order to fight off the pirates that were threatening the ship. (ENT: "Horizon")
