Charles Sowles is a special effects artist and costumer who worked on the costume props on J.J. Abrams' Star Trek.

Sowles worked as fabricator/ special effects costumer on the fantasy film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), Zack Snyder's comic adaptation 300 (2006), the superhero movie Iron Man (2008), and the action sequel Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008).

More recently, he lent his skills to the comic adaptation Watchmen (2009), the action film G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra (2009, with Rachel Nichols), and James Cameron's science fiction thriller Avatar (2009, starring Zoe Saldana).
