Charles Maxwell (born 28 December 1913 in Long Island, New York; died 7 August 1993) was the actor who played Virgil Earp in the Star Trek episode "Spectre of the Gun".

He made many appearances on the television Westerns Bonanza and Gunsmoke as was the voice of the radio broadcaster throughout the entire run of Gilligan's Island. He also had a role on the short-lived western series The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca, as were fellow Star Trek alumnus Skip Homeier, Clegg Hoyt, Brian Keith, William Schallert, Kenneth Tobey, and TOS star DeForest Kelley.
