Stunt performers, including all images of stuntmen and stuntwomen, appearing as stunt doubles or stunt actors. – Tom 13:53, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- That works for me. Makes the sense and all. -- Sulfur 15:17, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
Renaming suggestion Edit
I'm thinking perhaps this should be changed to Category:Memory Alpha images (stunt doubles), because at the moment, this category blurs the line between "real world" and "in universe". --Alan 16:54, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose the re-naming. Maybe a sub category to this but I don't think its necessary. – Tom 16:40, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- Could you clarify the RW/In-universe comment? Aren't both "stunt performer" and "stunt double" the same POV, and aren't image categories RW anyway? -- Cid Highwind 17:19, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Well, this appears to me to be a "personal interest" type category more than one that actually serves a logical purpose. I don't really think it is necessary to categorize all characters that are played by someone dubbed as a "stunt performer" when there were no stunts, or for that matter dubbing, performed by said characters. For example, just because the File:Amar_first_officer.jpg was played by someone who generally performs stunts, Tom Morga, doesn't mean the image should be categorized as if he performed stunts as said character, say, as a stunt double.
Talas, or rather File:Bevin Kaye, Babel One.jpg, is someone who is a real world substitute for the real-in universe character...those, to me, seem like a logical thing to categorize separately from the the "real characters". Otherwise, the images here appear almost arbitrary and random, unless you know something about the person playing the role. Shatner, Takei and I'm sure others performed some of their own stunts in TOS, so should we categorize all their images now under stunt performers or just ones of their stunt doubles? The latter makes the most sense to me, of course.
If limited it to Category:Memory Alpha images (stunt doubles) we could at least make the distinction between a "stunt double" portraying a "real character" and an "actor" who played a "real character" that maybe performed stunts, that is, in reality, no different from the viewers point of view than from any other undubbed character on screen. --Alan 20:21, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
