Cardassia V was the inhabited fifth planet in the Cardassian system. This system was located in the Cardassian sector, which was a region of space in the Alpha Quadrant. The planet was affiliated with the Cardassian Union.
Kono was wanted there for stealing bone carvings from a museum. (DS9: "Shadowplay")
According to the script for "Tribunal", the pronunciation for Cardassia was "car-DASS-ee-uh". [1]
According to Star Trek: Star Charts, Cardassia V (Cardassia Minor) was classified as a M-class world. The Cardassian system was a single star system. Cardassia was a K class star with a magnitude of +1, which was a hundred times brighter than Sol. (Pages 37, 43, and 46)
