Lieutenant Commander Calvin Hutchinson was a Starfleet officer in the 24th century. Hutchinson's nickname was "Hutch."

Hutchinson enjoyed social situations and was known for his love of small talk, although he was oblivious to the fact that it was generally uncomfortable and dull. He had met many Starfleet personnel, including Admiral Mitchell, Captain's Conklin and Edwell, and Dr. Beverly Crusher, and had stories about each of them.

Hutchinson was assigned to Earth in 2365, but had been transferred to Arkaria Base by 2369. He hosted notorious gatherings for starship crews visiting the Remmler Array, which the senior staff of the USS Enterprise-D tried to avoid during their stopover that year. Commander Data, however, was extremely interested in the concept of small talk and kept Hutchinson's attention from the other officers, much to their delight.

Hutchinson would be shot and killed when a mercenary group's plot to steal trilithium resin from the Enterprise was revealed. (TNG: "Starship Mine")

Commander Hutchinson was played by David Spielberg.
