He received an Academy Award nomination in the Best Achievement in Visual Effects for his work on Star Trek, which he shared with Industrial Light & Magic crew members Roger Guyett, Russell Earl, and Paul Kavanagh. [1] In 2010 Dalton, Earl, Kavanagh, and Guyett received a Saturn Award nomination for Best Special Effects for their work on Star Trek [2] as well as for Into Darkness.

Awards

Dalton was nominated for an Emmy Award for his effects work on the HBO's acclaimed 1998 mini-series From the Earth to the Moon, which featured Star Trek alumni David Andrews, Robert Curtis Brown, David Clennon, Ronny Cox, Brett Cullen, Ann Cusack, Jerry Hardin, Clint Howard, Daniel Hugh Kelly, John Carroll Lynch, Dakin Matthews, Deborah May, Andy Milder, Kieran Mulroney, Holmes Osborne, Ethan Phillips, Harve Presnell, Mark Rolston, Stephen Root, and Alan Ruck. David Carson was a director on this series.

In 2009, Dalton won an Academy Award in the category "Best Achievement in Visual Effects" for coordinating the special effects of the Paramount Pictures release The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. He shared the award with fellow Star Trek visual effects alum Craig Barron. Like 2009's Star Trek, Benjamin Button features Spencer Daniels in the cast.
