Brone was the leader of the Vori. They were at war with the Kradin. As part of their training they would capture members of their race or aliens and subject them to mind control along with drugs to make them hate the Kradin and fight blindly in their war. Brone's men captured Chakotay who was brain washed into hating the Kradin.
