In 2368, he was assigned to oversee the transport of Kamala, a Kriosian empathic metamorph, to Valt Minor aboard the Enterprise-D. During the trip he was hurt in an accident caused by two Ferengi on board the ship. He asked Picard to assume his duties in teaching Kamala the ways of the Valtese.(TNG: "The Perfect Mate")
