Brekka was the inhabited fourth planet of the Delos system. This was the homeworld for the Brekkians, a humanoid species. Brekka was the only known planet able to cultivate the plant that felicium, the only known cure for the Ornaran plague, could be refined from.
Over two hundred years before 2364, a Federation scout ship made contact with the planet. According to a report by the ship, several thousand years ago, the planet Ornara and the neighboring Brekka took different paths in their development. According to this report, "Ornara became technologically sophisticated, Brekka did not." During the mid-22nd century, "Ornara was stricken by a devastating plague," however, "their advanced technology could provide no solution." A cure for the plague was eventually discovered in a plant indigenous to Brekka. Attempts to cultivate the plant on Ornara failed, leading a trade pact between the two planets for the cure.
