Brazil was a country on the Atlantic in the South American continent on Earth. It was the largest country in the continent. This was the fifth largest country of the planet. Its capital was Brasilia.

Brazil was known for its diverse wildlife found in the Amazon rainforest and river. (ENT: "Fight or Flight") The city of Rio de Janeiro was one of Brazil's popular destinations. (TNG: "The Emissary"; DS9: "What You Leave Behind")

In 2151, Hoshi Sato taught as a university professor in Brazil, before she took a commission aboard the Earth starship Enterprise NX-01 as communications officer in order to have the chance to experience new languages from outer space. (ENT: "Broken Bow", "Shockwave", "Zero Hour", "Observer Effect") She returned to her position there following the decommissioning of the Enterprise in 2161. (ENT: "These Are the Voyages...") In the mirror universe, Hoshi Sato also taught in Brazil. (ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly")

A 21st century-era political map of Earth was stored in the USS Enterprise's library computer in 2254. The location of Brazil was labeled on this map. This map was among the materials viewed by the Talosians when they scanned the Enterprise computer. (TOS-R: "The Cage")

In 2375, Starfleet dedicated the USS Sao Paulo "for the people of Brazil." (DS9: "The Dogs of War")

Later that year, Ezri Dax stated that Jadzia was fond of Rio (de Janeiro) as a place to live when Miles O'Brien thought of moving back to Earth. (DS9: "What You Leave Behind")

The map used in the remastered "The Cage" was a Central Intelligence Agency map published in September 2008. The ice shelfs of Antarctica were masked with black ink. Brasilia was labeled on the map; it was represented by a black star. [1]
Beside the matte painting seen in "Broken Bow", the other scenes were filmed in the US city Malibu on 19 June 2001.
