Lieutenant Branson was a Starfleet officer assigned to the USS Enterprise-E in 2379, on which he served as helm officer.

Branson was on duty when Captain Picard ordered the Enterprise to Romulus in response to an overture of peace from newly-installed Praetor Shinzon. This overture, however, was ultimately revealed to be a ruse by Shinzon, in order to capture Captain Picard and perform a complete blood transfusion from him in order to save his own life. In the subsequent battle in the Bassen Rift, Branson was killed when a photon torpedo fired from Shinzon's ship, the Scimitar, breached the forward bulkhead of the Enterprise's bridge, the explosive decompression blowing him out into space. (Star Trek Nemesis)

Branson was played by actor Michael Owen and was named by screenwriter John Logan for his friend Donna Branson.
In the TNG-relaunch novel Q&A, in an alternate timeline, Branson survived the battle with the Scimitar and continued to serve aboard the Enterprise into 2380.
