The Borg probe was a type of small starship used by the Borg, apparently to scout low-resistance targets. The craft is not as well armed as most larger Borg ships, and is only about 350 meters long. These ships are equipped with a transwarp coil.
The USS Voyager encountered a probe of this type in mid-2375, and accidentally destroyed it (instead of disabling it) by beaming a photon torpedo near the probe's power matrix. (VOY: "Dark Frontier")
