Biocomputer

A biocomputer

A biocomputer was a specialized 23rd century instrument for solving biological problems. About 50cm x 25cm x 25cm, it had a series of front panel data entry controls and status indicators. It lacked a direct telemetry interface to the ship's computers; the user required a communicator or other separate means of exchanging data with a starship.

In 2266, Leonard H. McCoy used a biocomputer to isolate the nature of the life prolongation complex and to formulate a vaccine. (TOS: "Miri")
