Template:Realworld Bill Wistrom served as Supervising Sound Editor for all four of the live-action Star Trek spin-off series, beginning with the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. He left TNG after "Chain of Command, Part II" to work on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and left that series after the first three seasons to work on all seven seasons of Star Trek: Voyager. He then became Supervising Sound Editor for all four seasons of Star Trek: Enterprise. In addition, Wistrom was the Supervising Sound Editor for the video games Star Trek: Borg and Star Trek: Klingon. He received special thanks in Star Trek: First Contact.

Wistrom has been in the sound editing business for over fifty years. He started his career in feature films, working on Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief, The Man Who Knew Too Much, and Vertigo, as well as such classics as The Court Jester, The Ten Commandments, The Nutty Professor, and El Dorado. By the 1970s, he began to work more in television, including series like The High Chaparral, Bonanza, The Waltons, and Kojak, several Columbo specials, and numerous TV movies. He still continued to do films, however, including The Wind and the Lion, The Muppet Movie, and Raise the Titanic. He was working as Supervising Sound Editor on Falcon Crest when he left to apply his trade on TNG.

Emmy Awards

Wistrom has earned a total of 17 Emmy Award nominations, 10 of which were for his work on the various Star Trek shows. Of those 17 nominations, he won 6 – including four for his work on TNG. All awards and nominations were shared with the sound editing department he was working with at the time.
