Beta Canopus was a planet and the natural source of strobolin, a pharmaceutical used to treat choriocytosis in Vulcans.

The starship USS Potemkin visited Beta Canopus in 2270 to obtain strobolin that was to be shipped to the USS Enterprise by way of the freighter Huron. (TAS: "The Pirates of Orion")
