The Explored Galaxy

The location of Beta Aurigae in "The Explored Galaxy" star chart

Beta Aurigae was a binary system.

In 2269, the USS Potemkin was scheduled to rendezvous with the USS Enterprise in the Beta Aurigae system to conduct gravitational studies of the system. Before the rendezvous, the Enterprise received a distress call from Camus II causing the mission with the Potemkin to be delayed. (TOS: "Turnabout Intruder")

In 2293, the location of Beta Aurigae in the Milky Way Galaxy was labeled in a star chart that was in Captain James T. Kirk's quarters aboard the USS Enterprise-A. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, okudagram)

Beta Aurigae was mentioned in DC TOS volume 1 #56: "A Small Matter of Faith", where it was mentioned the star was a potent source of Berthold radiation.
