Beta Agni II was the inhabited second planet in the Beta Agni system, in the Beta Quadrant. This planet, the home of a Federation colony, was located within Sector 30. Since its settlement, the colony had recorded no significant geological activity.

In 2366, the colony had a sudden tricyanate contamination of its water supply. The contamination was neutralized with hytritium supplied by an away team from the USS Enterprise-D. The incident was later found out to be the work of Zibalian trader Kivas Fajo, as part of a scheme to capture the android Data. (TNG: "The Most Toys")

Background information[]

This planet's quadrant of origin is inferred from it being in Sector 30, which contained a section of the Romulan Neutral Zone. This zone was canonically located in the Beta Quadrant in the Star Trek: Picard episode "The Impossible Box".

The planet model for Beta Agni II was first used for Benev Selec ("Pen Pals"). It was used again for Starbase 515 planet ("Samaritan Snare") and Rutia IV ("The High Ground").

Both the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 80) and StarTrek.com classified Beta Agni II as a class M planet. The latter described Beta Agni II as a world with oceans, lush areas, and a large desert. [1]

According to Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I"), in 2378, Beta Agni II was listed as a Federation member.
