The Bering Strait was a narrow body of water separating the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. This strait linked the Bering Sea to the Arctic region. (TOS: "The Cage")
This strait was identified on a political map of the North Pacific region in the USS Enterprise library computer. This map was retrieved by the Talosians when they accessed the starship's computers in 2254.
