Bell peppers were an Earth foodstuff, the fruit of the Capiscum genus of plants, and were used to accompany many dishes.

Benjamin Sisko was fond of using peppers in his cooking. In late 2375, he spent three months growing peppers. Unfortunately, while Kasidy Yates was preparing to roast peppers for him as part of a meal, she accidentally burnt them. (DS9: "The Changing Face of Evil")
