Beck was a male nurse in Starfleet service whose area of expertise was as an obstetrics specialist.
He was assigned to the USS Enterprise-D in 2369 and joined the crew at Starbase 218. (TNG: "Lessons")
Beck was named after Don Beck, who produced previews for TNG and DS9. (Star Trek Encyclopedia 2nd ed., p. 39)
