A Basai master is a title bestowed on Klingon poets of extraordinary renown and passion.

The lady Grilka once compared Quark to a Basai master during his courtship of her. Unknown to Grilka, Quark was being coached in his performance by Worf, who took Grilka's compliment to heart for himself. (DS9: "Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong Places")
