Barzan II was the second planet of the Barzan planetary system. This system was located in the Alpha Quadrant The planet possessed few, if any, natural resources and an environment that was inhospitable to most other life-forms. This was the homeworld for the Barzans, a pre-warp capable humanoid species. The planet was governed by the uniglobal Barzanian Planetary Republic. This republic was headed by a premier. In 2366, the premier was Bhavani.
In that year, the Federation participated in negotiations for the rights for the Barzan wormhole, which had been discovered near Barzan II and appeared once every 233 minutes. The starship USS Enterprise-D hosted the negotiations in orbit of Barzan II. In the end, it became clear that the other end of the wormhole was not stable, and its possible use as a resource vanished. (TNG: "The Price")
