Axanar was a planet inhabited by the Axanar, and the site of a famous Starfleet mission led by Garth of Izar.
Starfleet first learned of this planet in 2151 upon making First Contact with the Axanar. (ENT: "Fight or Flight")
In the 2250s, Captain Garth of Izar won a major victory at Axanar. A young James T. Kirk was sent here as a first year cadet and awarded the Palm Leaf of Axanar. (TOS: "Whom Gods Destroy")
