Asclepius (also spelled "Aesculapius") was the Greek god of medicine and healing.

His name was used in a version of the Hippocratic Oath spoken by The Doctor in 2373. (VOY: "Darkling")

The quote from the USS Pasteur's dedication plaque was used an alternate spelling of his name in the first part of the Hippocratic Oath. (TNG: "All Good Things...")
