An arresting field was a type of force field used within the shuttlebay of a starship in the 24th century.

Such a field would be activated in anticipation of an uncontrolled landing of a shuttlecraft in the shuttlebay, typically if the pilot was incapacitated. The field would slow and stop the shuttle before it crashed into the bulkhead. In the 23rd century, physical barriers were employed for this purpose. (Star Trek V: The Final Frontier)

The USS Voyager used an arresting field in 2376 to stop a shuttle piloted by B'Elanna Torres, which had sustained damage in an ion storm. Life support had failed, putting Torres into a coma. Fortunately, the Voyager crew found her in time and saved her life. (VOY: "Barge of the Dead")
