Arkaria was an inhabited planet in its star system, and the homeworld of the humanoid Arkarians and the Arkarian horn fowl. Arkaria Base was a facility on the planet's surface that remotely controlled the Remmler Array orbiting the planet. According to Data, Arkaria featured some interesting weather patterns and its mean temperatures were slightly above what was considered comfortable for Humans. According to Calvin Hutchinson, the commander of the Arkaria Base, there was a network of trails through the plains, with one of the trails leading to a southern promontory where there were nesting grounds for the horn fowls.

In 2369, the USS Enterprise-D arrived at Arkaria to be serviced by the Remmler Array. During the procedure, Arkaria Base was temporarily seized by Arkarian terrorists in league with a mercenary group attempting to steal trilithium resin from the Enterprise. (TNG: "Starship Mine")
