Ariannus was a Federation M-class planet and a vital transfer point for commercial traffic lanes. In the mid-23rd century, it had a population of one billion. (TOS: "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield") The location of Ariannus was depicted on a Federation star chart in 2293. It was located near Beta Niobe, Beta Lyrae, and Mudd.
