In 2319, Peretor Ardan was a rival for Karnas in the bid for control of Mordan IV. He died prior to 2364.
When Admiral Mark Jameson asked Karnas if Ardan was behind the kidnappings of the embassy staff in 2364, Karnas said that Ardan had died and couldn't be possibly involved. The elimination of him and Gilnor lead Jameson to suspect Karnas in the kidnappings. TNG: "Too Short a Season")
