Antimatter flow regulators were important components in the warp drive of the Enterprise NX-01.

In 2154, a boarding party of Klingons infected with the Augment virus disabled Enterprise's flow regulators, in an attempt to sabotage their mission of rescuing the kidnapped Doctor Phlox. Commander T'Pol estimated that it would take six hours to repair the warp drive. Later, the crew discovered that the Klingons had covertly inserted a disruptive subroutine into Enterprises computer, causing the flow regulators to be locked open, making it impossible for Enterprise to drop out of warp.
