Antaak

Antaak

Antaak-ridgeless

Antaak after the loss of his cranial ridges

Antaak was a Klingon doctor in the Imperial Fleet who specialized in mutagenic research in the 22nd century. Born into the warrior caste, his father disowned him when he became a healer.

When Antaak was a child, his pet targ, Boshar, became Antaak's first patient when it tore its side open, and Antaak stitched the wound himself.

In 2149, he disguised himself as a Mazarite and attended an Interspecies Medical Exchange conference on Tiburon. At the conference, Doctor Phlox presented a document on the subject of viral propagation.

In 2154, Antaak met Phlox when the Denobulan doctor was captured and forced to help the Klingon Empire recover from a mutagenic virus. Antaak assisted Phlox in successfully removing the deadly effects of the virus. However, the Empire - including Antaak - was forever changed when he and Phlox were unable to stop the virus's removal of Klingon cranial ridges. With his military career over, Antaak decided to go into a new profession: cranial reconstruction. (ENT: "Affliction", "Divergence")

Antaak was played by John Schuck, who is noted for also portraying the Klingon ambassador in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, as well as other roles in DS9 and VOY. It is not clear if the producers intended Antaak to be an ancestor of the Klingon ambassador.
