Andrew Probert was a Starfleet captain in the 24th century.
He was part of the Engineering Group which helped design and construct the starship USS Enterprise-D. His name was listed on the dedication plaque of that vessel when it was commissioned in 2363. (Star Trek: The Next Generation)
He was the author of the technical manual Teratogenic Coolant Safety Protocol. A copy of this manual was stored in the Galaxy-class USS Enterprise's Engineering Systems Database. (TNG: "Booby Trap", display graphic)
Captain Probert's name was an inside reference to Andrew Probert, one of the illustrators who worked on the TNG production staff.
