Anaanda Ziff's service record image

Anaanda Ziff, daughter of Marsha I. and Benjamin A. Ziff, was born on the planet Omicron Ceti III during the mid-24th century.

Ziff attended Starfleet Academy where she specialized in the field of sciences, notably quantum mechanics and special physical research.

Early in her Starfleet career, Ziff (serial RT 825-081) served aboard the starships USS Malone, USS Peterson and USS Clavyn.

In the course of her Starfleet career, she has received the Sepek Academic Scholarship, the Extended Tour Ribbon with Cluster, the Okuda Award for subspace resistance research and the Daystrom Award for quantum physics.

During the early 2360s, Ziff served as the head of the team at Utopia Planitia that installed the secondary cargo transporter aboard the starship USS Enterprise-D.

By 2370, Ziff, who was then a lieutenant, was later serving aboard the Enterprise-D in the quantum mechanics department. (TNG: "Eye of the Beholder")

Ziff was portrayed by an unknown actress.
Ziff's service record was displayed on a monitor screen reading out personnel information. She was named after Betsy Ziff, a friend of René Echevarria. (Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion) Some references appeared to be in-jokes based on the Paramount Pictures television series Cheers.
Omicron Ceti III was depicted in TOS: "This Side of Paradise" as incapable of supporting Human life, which raises the question of whether this personnel file (which was shown during a dream sequence) was entirely accurate. However, it is possible that a way was found to colonize this world by the 24th century, as was the case with a similar world, Archer IV.
