The Amleth system was a planetary system. A planet in this system, Amleth Prime, was the location of a Cardassian military base. This system was located in the Amleth Nebula, an emission nebula. The nebula rendered cloaking devices useless in the system. (DS9: "Return to Grace")
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts, on page 46, the Amleth system was a binary star system. The primary was a red giant, and the secondary was a yellow dwarf. This system was in the Alpha Quadrant.
