"Amazing Grace" is a well-known hymn written by John Newton that is often used in Christian services on Earth. The instrumental version has also been used frequently for funerals and memorial services in various secular military and service organizations, including Starfleet.

The instrumental version was played on bagpipes by Commander Montgomery Scott at Captain Spock's funeral aboard the USS Enterprise in 2285. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)
