Alpha Majoris I was the first planet of the Alpha Majoris system. This was the homeworld for the non-corporeal mellitus. (TOS: "Wolf in the Fold") The location of the Alpha Majoris system in the Milky Way Galaxy was depicted in the "The Explored Galaxy" star chart. (TNG: "Conspiracy", production art)
On the "The Explored Galaxy" chart, the star Alpha Majoris was positioned between the Tholian Assembly and Romulus. According to dialog in "Call to Arms", the two were Alpha Quadrant powers.
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts (page 47), Alpha Majoris I was located in or near Federation space, in the Alpha Quadrant.
