The Almatha sector was an area of Cardassian space that borders the Demilitarized Zone under the command of Gul Toran. Border outposts 47 and 61 were located in this sector.
In 2371, after Thomas Riker stole the USS Defiant, his entry point into Cardassian space was through the Almatha sector. (DS9: "Defiant")
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts, on page 47, this sector was named after the star system Almatha, and this sector was located in the Alpha Quadrant.
